Martín Eluchans
I trained as a sculptor and through experiences in the world of theater, I became interested in the scenery and its spaces. From these interests I seek to create in my works, as in theatrical art, a fictional world full of reality.
Uprooting is something that has marked me. And for that reason, it is what best defines my work: a proposal in which I seek to reflect on reality from a world saturated with images, unique answers and common places. That world where everything fits and where the most diverse objects and characters coexist, which has no precise geographical references or historical epochs, is also a way of representing the difficulty of belonging.
Using miniatures and through humor and irony, I am interested in questioning the meanings of the codes of the cultural imaginary. Review them, ridicule them and appeal to the common places as an instrument to rethink the established social conventions, as well as inviting the viewer to complete my work with your reading.
Me formé como escultor y a través de experiencias en el mundo del teatro, fui interesándome en la escenografía y sus espacios. A partir de esos intereses busco crear en mis trabajos, como en el arte teatral, un mundo ficticio cargado de realidad.
El desarraigo es algo que me ha marcado. Y por eso mismo, es lo que mejor define mi obra: una propuesta en la que busco reflexionar sobre la realidad a partir de un mundo saturado de imágenes, respuestas únicas y lugares comunes. Ese mundo donde todo cabe y en el que conviven los objetos y personajes más diversos, que no tiene referentes geográficos precisos ni épocas históricas, es también una manera de representar la dificultad de pertenecer.
Usando miniaturas y a través del humor y la ironía, me interesa poner en cuestión los significados de los códigos del imaginario cultural. Revisarlos, ridiculizarlos y apelar a los lugares comunes como instrumento para replantear las convenciones sociales establecidas, así como invitar al espectador a completar mi obra con su lectura.
